Ron joined the company in 2002. In addition to overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations he is focused on building the corporate infrastructure needed to support the rapidly growing market opportunities for GenomeQuest. Ranauro participated in the growth and maturity of the Electronics Computer Aided Engineering (ECAE) industry from the early 1980's to the late 1990's. There he honed the basic selling, marketing and business strategies that have helped GenomeQuest attract funding and scale its business. Prior to joining GenomeQuest he founded and led Blackstone Technology Group, a grid-computing provider to the life science IT field.
Prior to founding Blackstone, Ranauro held positions in sales, sales management, and general management at Nextwave Design Automation and Exemplar Logic. Ranauro began his career as a software engineer at Viewlogic Systems and Data General Corporation.
Ron serves as an Entrepreneur-In-Residence at the Clark University Innovation and Entrepreneurship program where he teaches a class in Entrepreneurial Communication and Influence. Also, Ron serves on the Executive Council of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Department of Management.He earned a BS degree in management and an MS in computer science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Dr. McManus leads GenomeQuest's corporate marketing, strategic alliances and product marketing efforts. Dr. McManus has over 20 years of scientific software and business experience, including operational management, business development, strategic product planning, research and development, product marketing and product management expertise.
Prior to joining GenomeQuest, Dr. McManus served as Vice President of Business Development for the BioSciences Group of Fujitsu Computer Systems, where he helped set up and initiate the Group's U.S. operations. Before Fujitsu, Dr. McManus served as Executive VP and COO of AnVil, Inc. Prior to AnVil, he served as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at CambridgeSoft Corporation. Dr. McManus received his Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received his B.S. in chemistry, summa cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Dr. Codani provides the GenomeQuest's technology vision and direction. For over a decade he has been a leading innovator in the development of the core technologies used to implement GenomeQuest. Prior to his association with GenomeQuest he lead a four year research program on large scale sequence search at the French National Research Institute for Computer Science and Control (INRIA). Before that he was instrumental in developing the computational tools necessary for the physical mapping of the human genome at the Genethon/CEPH.
Dr. Arnold leads GenomeQuest’s global sales team. Drew joined GenomeQuest in 2006 as head of strategic accounts, a role in which he was a leader and major contributor to GenomeQuest’s compelling sales successes. He has over 10 years of experience in the life sciences industry, largely in senior business development, management and scientific applications roles. Prior to joining GenomeQuest, Dr. Arnold served as Vice President of Business Development for Silicon Informatics, Inc. Before Silicon Informatics, he was Senior Director, Business Development at LION Bioscience of Cambridge, where he set up US sales and support operations and lead strategic alliances for drug discovery. Dr. Arnold also served as Group Leader, Scientific Applications Managers, for Molecular Applications Group, Inc. He received his Ph.D. in physiology from Cornell University in 1993 and also has degrees from Oregon State University and the University of Minnesota.
Mr. Salerno will be responsible for guiding GenomeQuest’s entry into the next-generation DNA sequencing bioinformatics market, and his duties will include the creation and maintenance of close ties and alliances with leaders in the next-generation sequencing vendor community.
Prior to joining GenomeQuest, Inc., Mr. Salerno was with Agilent Technologies, Inc. in the role of Director, Strategic Business Development. Previous to Agilent, he was a successful entrepreneur with notable accomplishments in technology planning, market development and strategy. Mr. Salerno was Founder, President and CEO of VectorObjects, Managing Director of BioDynamics Associates, Senior Consultant at Vysis, Inc., now part of Abbott Diagnostics, and founding Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Tropix, Inc., now a division of Applied Biosystems, Inc. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of the Holy Cross, and studied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Harvard University.
Mr. Wozniak is responsible for the development of the high performance computing technology underlying GenomeQuest. He has been with the company since 2001. Mr. Wozniak previously held a senior position in the simulation and development of Itanium based multi-processor architectures at Bull company in France. Before that he held a position as a researcher in experimental computing architectures, algorithm optimization and video conferencing codecs at the French National Research Institute for Computer Science and Control (INRIA). Mr. Wozniak holds several patents in technology related fields. His extensive experience in hardware and software development is essential for the optimization of the various search algorithms and the handling of large amounts of sequence data efficiently.
Prior to joining GenomeQuest, Dr Gulukota built and directed the Clinical Research division at GVK Biosciences in India and prior to that directed the Bioinformatics Core Sciences group for Wyeth in Cambridge, MA. With rich experience in drug discovery and development as well as computational biology, Dr Gulukota brings a unique vision and direction for shaping GenomeQuest's content strategy for GenomeQuest.
Dr. Heus has been with the company since January 2001 and previously held a research position with NV Organon/Akzo Nobel in the Netherlands. Dr. Heus uniquely combines business, molecular biology and software development skills. The principal architect of the GenomeQuest application, Dr. Heus now leads the company's sequencing business initiative. His extensive genomics-based drug discovery and research experience enables GenomeQuest to continuously anticipate and respond to the needs of both technical and bench end-users.
