GenomeQuest, Inc. Launches “DrugBank Pro” Database, With Six-Month Advance DrugBank Data and Exclusive IND Information

Monday, February 4, 2008

Genomics information industry leader now sole provider of sequence and annotation information on all investigational drugs, their targets and metabolizing enzymes contained in the DrugBank data collection

Westborough, Massachusetts - February 4, 2008 –

GenomeQuest, Inc., the leader in genomic search, today announced the launch of “DrugBank Pro”, an exclusive database of sequence and annotation information on all approved drugs, their targets and metabolizing enzymes located in the University of Alberta’s DrugBank database, six months prior to publication, along with full access to its non-public Investigational New Drug (IND) database of drugs in clinical trials.

Dr. Michael J. McManus, Vice President and General Manager of GenomeQuest, Inc., said, “We are pleased to work with the University of Alberta to supply the critical information contained in DrugBank Pro. DrugBank Pro is a powerful resource for researchers who need the latest, most accurate data for drug targeting, drug repositioning, exploratory pharma research, drug similarity and business intelligence.”

Dr. Kamalakar Gulukota, Senior Director, Content Development, said, “Users of GenomeQuest™ can utilize the DrugBank Pro data in novel ways. For example, they can locate the targets of INDs by a sequence similarity search; or they can execute high throughput queries to show all drugs of a class; find out what probes from microarray experiments match to drug targets by BLASTing them against DrugBank. Of course, users can also create simple keyword queries to locate targets of interest.”

He added, “The power and flexibility afforded by GenomeQuest™ and DrugBank Pro is undeniable, and makes for a compelling complement to drug research.”
