Leader in sequence search licenses flagship IP solution to Public Intellectual Property Resource for Agriculture

Westborough, Massachusetts and Davis, California - March 7, 2007 – Gene-IT, a leader in sequence search for research and IP, today announced that it will provide its flagship GenomeQuest™ service to PIPRA, the Public Intellectual Property Resource for Agriculture.

Under the terms of the agreement, PIPRA will utilize GenomeQuest to develop comprehensive patent landscapes surrounding agricultural biotechnologies. PIPRA integrates patent landscapes with legal analyses to provide researchers with both enabling and trait technologies with maximum, global freedom-to-operate.

Dr. Cecilia Chi-Ham, Director Biotechnology Resources of PIPRA, said, "A primary goal of PIPRA is to ensure that public sector agricultural research institutions have the most comprehensive scientific tools and information possible to aid their quest to improve local and global food supplies. We feel that GenomeQuest™'s comprehensiveness, ease-of-use, and its 'sequence-centric' views of patent information, are clearly a valuable additional resource to researchers seeking access to the agricultural intellectual property necessary to advance the creation and distribution of improved crops."

Ronald Ranauro, CEO of Gene-IT, said, "Gene-IT is very pleased to be working with PIPRA, as the organization helps build bridges between agricultural institutes worldwide, in enabling them to share and leverage the latest sequence and IP information relevant to their research."
